Every spring and summer, rescues and shelters face the same heartbreaking reality: more kittens are born outside than there are safe homes, foster homes, or rescue resources available to save them.
And behind every litter of kittens is a mama cat whose body is being asked to survive pregnancy after pregnancy while living outdoors.
Spay/abort means that a pregnant cat is spayed and the pregnancy is humanely terminated during the procedure. We understand that this can be an emotional subject, but in rescue, it can also be an incredibly important and compassionate lifesaving tool.
The Pink Promise Program is specifically for pregnant STRAY/FERAL cats — NOT personal pets.
Eligible cats must be brought to the Humane Society in a humane trap and will receive a rabies vaccine & an ear tip at the time of surgery, identifying them as a sterilized community cat. THIS IS A TNR PROGRAM.
Because every surgery represents a promise.
A promise that this mama will never again struggle through pregnancy on the streets.
A promise that hundreds of future kittens won't be born into an uncertain life outdoors.
A promise to address the problem at its source instead of waiting until another litter is born and needs rescue.
And ultimately,
