Simon left us as a kitten and returned to us as a handsome young man after being returned to our rescue by his adoptive family.
For reasons we'll never fully know, the home environment ultimately was not the right fit for Simon. Over time, he began showing behavioral concerns, primarily related to his bathroom habits. However, since returning to foster care, Simon has settled in beautifully. In fact, he has not had a single accident outside the litter box — not one!
What we did notice, though, was that the Simon who came back wasn't quite the same Simon who left.
As a young kitten, Simon loved being held, cuddled, and showered with affection. When he returned to us, he was much more hesitant and uncomfortable with human touch. His dedicated foster family has spent countless hours helping him rebuild his trust and confidence. Today, Simon enjoys pets, loves curling up on the couch for movie nights, sleeps in bed with his people, and once again accepts being held and loved on.
Simon's journey has reminded us just how much an animal's environment matters. The home, the people, the routine, and even the other animals around them all play a role in whether a cat simply survives or truly thrives.
We've learned that Simon does best in a calm, predictable environment without other cats, although he has done well with laid-back, older dogs. What he needs most is a family willing to offer patience, understanding, and unconditional love.
After everything he's been through, Simon deserves a forever home where he can finally feel safe, secure, and loved for the rest of his days-for life!
